6th JASH Language Exchange (JASH LangX)
On March 8, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) hosted its 5th language exchange session, JASH LangX, at the JASH office. This welcoming event provided participants with an opportunity to connect, practice language skills, and experience JASH in a friendly and supportive setting.
Celebrating Hinamatsuri at the Consul General's Residence
On February 28, 2025, Consul General Yoshinori Kodama graciously opened his residence to the Japan-America Society of Hawaii for our annual Hinamatsuri celebration in honor of Girl’s Day. It was a truly special gathering, with approximately 40 guests coming together to celebrate this cherished tradition.

24th EHIME MARU MEMORIAL CEREMONYFEBRUARY 9, 2025
On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the Ehime Maru Memorial Association (EMMA) held the 24th remembrance ceremony of the accident that claimed the lives of nine Japanese crew members, including four high school students on board the Uwajima Fisheries High School training ship Ehime Maru. The ceremony was held at the Ehime Maru Memorial site in Kaka‘ako Waterfront Park.

On January 11, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) hosted its 5th language exchange session, JASH LangX, at the JASH office. This welcoming event provided participants with an opportunity to connect, practice language skills, and experience JASH in a friendly and supportive setting.
JASH President Reyna Kaneko Represents Hawai‘i at Prestigious Washington, D.C. Meeting
On December 2, JASH President Reyna Kaneko proudly represented Hawai‘i at the Annual Heads of Mission and Japanese American Leaders Meeting in Washington, D.C. This distinguished gathering, hosted by Ambassador Shigeo Yamada at the Japanese Embassy, brought together 22 Japanese American leaders selected by their respective Japanese Embassy and Consulates across the United States.
4th JASH Language Exchange (JASH LangX)
On November 16, 2024, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) hosted its 3rd language exchange session, JASH-LangX, at the JASH office.
Approximately 15 participants—both JASH members and non-members—gathered to connect with one another while practicing English and Japanese in a friendly and supportive environment. JASH LangX offers a unique opportunity to meet new people, improve language skills, and learn about Japan, the U.S., and Hawaii, all while making new friends in a relaxed setting.
2024 Japan-U.S. Military Program (JUMP) in Honolulu
On October 25, 2024, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) had the honor of hosting the Japan-U.S. Military Program (JUMP) at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Honolulu. Consul General Yoshinori Kodama graciously welcomed over 200 guests, including Japanese and American military service members, civilian government contractors, and local leaders, to this memorable event that continues to strengthen the longstanding bond between Japan and the United States.
Taste of JASH featuring Uwajima
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, JASH hosted its signature Taste of JASH food series, which was sponsored by Hawaii H.I.S. Corporation, at ZIGU in Honolulu, showcasing a diverse array of culinary offerings. Guests were treated to an exquisite tasting experience featuring regional delicacies from Uwajima, Ehime.
The Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Briefing
On August 14, 2024, members of the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) had the unique opportunity to attend a special briefing at the Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) Headquarters, located at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Lieutenant General Laura L. Lenderman, the Deputy Commander of PACAF, led the briefing.
Around 20 JASH members and Board Directors, including Consul Kosuke Idenoue, gathered at the PACAF HQ Lobby before being welcomed by Captain Ikeda, who escorted the group to the briefing room

NexGen Movers & Shakers featuring Master Brewer Mr. Motoyoshi Yamaga of Asahi Shuzo Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024
On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, JASH revived our beloved NexGen Movers & Shakers series, featuring Master Brewer Mr. Motoyoshi Yamaga of Asahi Shuzo Sake Brewing Co., Ltd. The event took place at Oceans20 - Central Pacific Bank, where 60 guests enjoyed sake from Asahi Shuzo and food.

U.S.Pacific Fleet (PACFLT) Mission Briefing
On May 23, 2024, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) members attended the U.S.Pacific Fleet (PACFLT) Mission Briefing at the PACFLT Headquarter Briefing Room at Pearl Harbor. About 20 members and JASH Board Directors gathered at the Pan Am building parking structure and enjoyed the bus ride to Pearl Harbor and each other’s company on the way. Consul General Yoshinori Kodama and Consul Kosuke Idenoue also joined us at Pearl Harbor.
Taste of JASH featuring Chigasaki City on Tuesday, May 14, 2024
On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, JASH revived our beloved Taste of JASH food series, sponsored by ANA at Kaimuki Shokudo located in Honolulu. 70 guests enjoyed the superb Fried Aji that is famous in Chigasaki, Kanagawa. The event was an enjoyable way to sample delicious regional dishes, learn about Japan and make new friends.

Honoring Dedication: EMMA's Virtual Luncheon Celebrates Volunteers and Memories
The Ehime Maru Memorial Association (EMMA) recently held a heartfelt virtual luncheon on Tuesday, March 28, 2024, via Zoom, marking a significant occasion to honor and express gratitude to the dedicated volunteers from various local Japanese- American community groups. Hosted by EMMA, this special event celebrated the unwavering commitment of volunteers who have tirelessly contributed to the upkeep and preservation of the Ehime Maru Memorial, nestled in Kakaʻako Waterfront Park.

On March 8, 2024, Ambassador(AMB) Kurt Tong delivered a compelling talk on the 2024 Elections and Policy Trends Impacting Japan and the Indo-Pacific at the Pacific Club's Card Room. The event was a resounding success, drawing a full house of approximately 40 esteemed guests.
EHIME MARU MEMORIAL CEREMONY - FEBRUARY 9, 2024
On Friday, February 9, 2024, the Ehime Maru Memorial Association (EMMA) held a remembrance ceremony for the 23rd anniversary of the tragic sinking of the Uwajima Fisheries High School training ship Ehime Maru at the Ehime Maru Memorial in Kaka‘ako Waterfront Park. The Ehime Maru suffered the loss of nine lives, including four students, two teachers, and three crew members after it was unexpectedly struck by the USS Greeneville submarine.
